Salem 7 Sculpture, Empire State Plaza | Albany, New York
Golden hour over the Plaza: Named after Antoni Milkowski’s studio in Salem, New York, Salem 7 consists of seven, four-foot cubes arranged into the form of a cross. While it is not one of the sixteen works of art commissioned for the Plaza, Milkowski’s work creates a juxtaposing dialogue with its surroundings as if it were purposely placed in its location. The dark, sharp, and square shapes of Salem 7 directly contrast with the light gray, curvilinear roof of the Empire State Plaza Performing Arts Center (more commonly known as The Egg) in which the sculpture is positioned under.
